Neon Nights Elkhart 2026: Your Glow-Up Weekend Guide

Written by on October 14, 2026

Let’s be honest: the most “glowing” thing in your life lately is probably the check engine light on the minivan. Or your phone screen at 11 PM while you finally scroll in peace.

Well, good news. This weekend, you get to trade that for something a whole lot prettier. 🌈

Downtown Elkhart Is Lighting Up for Neon Nights

Neon Nights takes over Downtown Elkhart October 15–17, and it’s turning Main Street into one giant, glowing playground. We’re talking light-based art installations, live performers, food, drinks and more photo ops than your camera roll can handle.

It’s billed as the biggest and brightest little event downtown has ever seen. And honestly? Based on the lineup, that tracks.

When to Go: The Three-Night Schedule

Pick your night (or go all three, we won’t judge):

  • Thursday, Oct. 15 | 5–9 PM: Opening night, paired with the Downtown Merchant Alliance Ladies Night. Grab your girlfriends and make it a shopping-plus-sparkle evening.
  • Friday, Oct. 16 | 7–11 PM: Light installations, live entertainment and special attractions.
  • Saturday, Oct. 17 | 7–11 PM: The full experience, including bonus glow at NIBCO Water & Ice Park.

Pro tip: you can add Neon Nights to your calendar right now so it doesn’t get buried under soccer practice and permission slips.

What You’ll See: The Installations You Can’t Miss

This isn’t just “look at the pretty lights.” A lot of these pieces are interactive, which means the kids get to touch, play and explore (and you get a few minutes of them being genuinely entertained).

The Tunnel

A rainbow corridor of light, sound and interactivity from Big Art out of Calgary. Walking through it is basically the most magical hallway you’ll ever see.

The Obelisk

A tower packed with more than 8,000 LEDs, and you get to control the show. Your kids will fight over whose turn it is. Plan accordingly.

The Infinity Temple

A seven-foot, 60-sided structure lined with 5,000 LEDs and mirrored glass. Every angle looks different, so walk all the way around it.

The Technostalgic Escape Pod

South Bend artist Joel Shultz built this one out of stacked vintage TVs, inspired by ’80s favorites like Back to the Future. Fellow ’80s kids, this one’s for us.

And Even More Glow

  • The Doors: Open each one to discover hidden animations inside.
  • The Egg: A stunning lit-up wooden sculpture by Neil Crum.
  • Marco Santini: An artist who invites you to contribute to the artwork yourself.
  • Sarah M Moser: A former Cirque du Soleil cast member who’ll be performing and working the crowds all weekend.

Check out the full lineup in the official Neon Nights event guide.

Where to Find Everything

The fun stretches along Main Street from Lexington Avenue to Marion Street, plus the Central Green (just east of Main, between High and Franklin).

On Saturday only, the glow extends to NIBCO Water & Ice Park at 301 NIBCO Parkway.

Why This One’s Worth Leaving the Couch For

It’s for all ages, it’s right in our backyard, and it’s the kind of thing your family will actually remember. Plus, it’s a great excuse to support local downtown businesses and grab dinner out (aka, no dishes).

The site doesn’t list admission prices or parking info, so I left those out. Worth a quick call to their line (574-536-0044) if you want to add them, since that’s the first thing a busy mom will want to know.
