Elkhart County Is on the National Map – And We Need Your Vote!

Written by on March 24, 2026

Hey, Froggy family! Did you know that right now, three of our favorite local spots are competing in a national contest — and your daily vote could help put Elkhart County on the map for the whole country to see?

USA Today’s 10Best readers’ choice awards are currently underway, and Elkhart County is showing up in a big way. Here’s what’s in the running — and why you (yes, you, busy mom in the Target parking lot scrolling your phone) should absolutely take 60 seconds to vote every single day.

🏆 The Elkhart RiverWalk Is Up for Best Riverwalk

If you’ve ever grabbed a coffee and strolled along the Elkhart River on a pretty afternoon, you already know why this one deserves to win. The RiverWalk is packed with public art, boutique shopping, gorgeous Quilt Gardens, and the beloved NIBCO Water and Ice Park — your kids’ favorite splash pad in summer and ice skating rink in winter. It’s basically the most mom-friendly outing in all of Michiana.

Mayor Rod Roberson said it best — the RiverWalk has been the anchor of our vibrant downtown corridor for 20 years and counting. Now it’s time to show the rest of America what we already know.

👉 Vote for the Elkhart RiverWalk here — once a day, every day, through April 6!

🚴 The Pumpkinvine Nature Trail Is Up for Best Recreational Trail

Calling all moms who love a good family bike ride, a morning jog without traffic, or an after-school walk to clear everyone’s heads — the Pumpkinvine Nature Trail is your trail, and it deserves this recognition.

This gem runs along the old Pumpkinvine railroad corridor and connects Shipshewana, Goshen, Middlebury, and Elkhart as part of a broader network that includes the Maple City Greenway and Mapleheart Trail. Whether you’re walking, jogging, biking, or skating, it’s pure Midwest outdoor magic.

👉 Vote for the Pumpkinvine Nature Trail here — once a day through April 6!

🏘️ Middlebury Is Up for Best Small Town in the Midwest

We might be biased, but Middlebury is just special. Nestled along the Little Elkhart River in the heart of Indiana Amish Country, it’s the kind of town that makes you slow down and breathe. Rolling hills, Amish crafts and food, the gorgeous Krider World’s Fair Garden — and of course, Das Dutchman Essenhaus, which draws nearly a million visitors every year to its legendary restaurant, inn, and shops.

If you’ve taken your kids there for a family dinner or done a little Christmas shopping, you know exactly why it deserves to be called the Best Small Town in the Midwest.

👉 Vote for Middlebury here — once a day through April 6!

How to Vote (It’s So Easy!)

Online voting is open now through Monday, April 6. You can vote in ALL THREE contests — once per day, per contest. So set a daily reminder on your phone, bookmark the links, do whatever it takes. This is our chance to show the country what makes Michiana home.

Jon Hunsberger of the Elkhart County CVB put it perfectly: “Elkhart County is blessed with truly scenic natural beauty, amenities built to connect us with nature, and vibrant small towns.”

We couldn’t agree more. Now let’s vote like it! 🐸💚
