Doug Jones Is Coming to River Bend Film Fest in Goshen!
Written by Zach Miller on September 1, 2026
Okay, real talk — when’s the last time you got to leave the house for something that wasn’t a soccer practice, a grocery run, or standing in the school pickup line scrolling your phone? If it’s been a minute (and let’s be honest, it’s always been a minute), I’ve got some news that might just be your permission slip to have a life again this September.
A Hollywood Legend Is Coming to Goshen
You read that right. Doug Jones — yes, the man behind some of the most iconic creature performances in movie history, including The Shape of Water and Hellboy II: The Golden Order — is making a special guest appearance at the 2026 River Bend Film Festival, happening right here in downtown Goshen.
This Indianapolis native and Ball State grad has spent his career transforming into unforgettable characters from behind the mask, and now he’s stepping out from behind it to hang out with us in person. That’s a pretty big deal for a festival happening in our own backyard.
What’s Actually Happening
The festival runs September 3–5, 2026 in Downtown Goshen, and this year’s theme is “Where Waters Meet.” Here’s what you (and maybe the babysitter, because you deserve a few hours) can look forward to with Doug:
- Live Q&A Sessions — get the real behind-the-scenes scoop on how those jaw-dropping movie characters actually come to life
- Meet & Greet Opportunities — an actual chance to meet the guy behind the magic
- Special Screenings — see fan-favorite films in a whole new light
- Insider Stories — hear firsthand what it takes to become something otherworldly on screen
More Than Just One Big Name
Even beyond the star power, River Bend Film Festival is the only festival of its kind in the Michiana area, and it’s packed with things worth carving out a little “me time” for:
- Independent films from up-and-coming storytellers
- Panels featuring real industry insiders
- Hands-on workshops if you’ve got a creative streak
- Late-night screenings for the folks who can actually stay up past 9 PM (no judgment if that’s not you)
And since it’s all set in The Maple City, you’ve got a whole weekend of shopping, dining, and nightlife right there to make a full outing of it. Dinner date, girls’ weekend, or solo escape — Goshen’s ready for you.
Mark your calendars, book the sitter, and get ready for a weekend that’s actually about you for once.
