You know that bath towel hanging on your bathroom door right now — the one you grab every single morning while you’re simultaneously brushing your teeth, yelling “find your other shoe!” down the hallway, and mentally reviewing today’s carpool schedule?

How many times have you actually used it since it was last washed?

No judgment here. We’re all just trying to survive laundry day like everybody else. But a new survey just spilled the tea on America’s towel habits, and honestly? It’s a little eye-opening.

The Great Towel Debate: What the Survey Found

A survey of over 24,000 Americans asked the real question we’re all secretly wondering about our neighbors: “How many times do you typically use a bath towel before washing it?”

Here’s how it broke down:

• 40% said two or three uses before it hits the hamper — the most popular answer by far
• 20% admitted to four or five uses (that’s basically a full work week with the same towel, friends)
• 10% push it to five or six uses
• 10% are living dangerously with seven or more uses
• 13% are the certified clean freaks who wash it after every single use
• And 1% said they don’t even use a towel at all — just straight-up air drying it out

Wait, So When Does the Shower Even Count Anymore?

Here’s the question that’s living rent-free in our brains: if you’re drying off with a towel you’ve used seven times, are you even getting clean? 🤔 At some point you’re basically just redistributing yesterday’s shower water back onto your body.

But hey, we get it. Between work, kids, dinner, and the eleventy-billion other things on the to-do list, “wash the towels” doesn’t always make the cut. No shame in the towel game.

So… Where Do You Land?
