Cora Dale House
Every month, Froggy 102.7 and First State Bank pick a local organization that’s doing real good right here at home for our Heart for Hart spotlight. This November, that’s Cora Dale House, and it’s a place a lot of people don’t know about but really should.
Who they are
So what happens there? A Clubhouse is built on two things all of us need: relationships and meaningful work. Members work side by side with staff to run the house day to day. Along the way they rebuild routines and friendships, and they get their confidence back.
The stories from members say it best. One member told about walking in for the first time in the middle of a full-blown panic attack and walking right back out. A month later he came back, took it slow, and found a place that made him feel needed. Now he calls it a complete turnaround. Another member hadn’t worked in three or four years. With Cora Dale House behind her, she landed a job. And one more says the Clubhouse helped her get out of homelessness and gave her a family that loves her without judgment.
Think about that for a second. Mental illness can be lonely and isolating. It can make the simplest parts of life feel impossible. Cora Dale House is the place that says, come on in, we’ve got a spot for you.
